Did you know?

Let’s talk about vegan leather. Vegan leather is a leather substitute that is most popularly derived from fibrous plant matter, or is simply made of polyvinyl chloride (and other synthetic materials). In our opinion, the choice to buy vegan leather should be a moral one (i.e., your purchase does not support factory farming and/or animal cruelty). Vegan leather, when not made from cork or woody plants, is not all that sustainable. PVC does have an ecological cost. So, in the end, vegan leather is arguably the ethical choice, but both leather and some vegan leathers aren’t that eco-friendly. But, if you want natural leather, make sure its sourced humanely and sustainably. FEIT has interesting thoughts on the matter.

Did you know?

Why do you like to pick handmade/crafted products? Excellent question. We tend to pick handmade products because they generally come from small businesses, artisans, and, by their nature of being handmade, are unique. Sometimes larger corporations will market their products as “handmade” to try and communicate quality, so we look out for this. Generally, we do external research to assess whether or not the products are truly handmade. We also like to search through Etsy and find individual or small businesses to spotlight.
